Achieve a Beautiful Smile with Porcelain Veneers

Dental chips, cracks, and gaps can take a toll on the natural beauty of your smile. For patients who feel self-conscious about minor cosmetic imperfections, Dr. Steven Ray in Little Rock, AR, can place custom porcelain veneers. These thin shells are bonded to the surface of teeth and are designed to help you achieve a brighter, more symmetrical smile. To ensure your satisfaction, Dr. Ray can provide you with a wax mock-up of your veneers, so you can preview your results, and we can make modifications as needed. At Ray Dental, we provide individualized services and the highest standard of care to each and every patient.

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin but durable shells that are bonded to the surface of the teeth to mask imperfections beneath. Due to their prominent location in the smile, veneers can conceal small or minor flaws while making a significant impact on your overall appearance. To make treatment more convenient, we offer standard veneers with minimal preparation.

To ensure your satisfaction, Dr. Ray can provide you with a wax mock-up of your veneers, so you can preview your results, and we can make modifications as needed.

At our practice, we use only the highest quality porcelain to craft your custom veneers. When designing your restoration, we can take into account the shape and length of your teeth, as well as their color to ensure beautiful results. In some cases, veneers can provide a more comprehensive solution than teeth whitening and a more affordable alternative to full orthodontia.

Determining Candidacy

To determine if you are a candidate for porcelain veneers, Dr. Ray can conduct a thorough evaluation of your smile and review your unique cosmetic goals. This treatment may be appropriate for you if you are struggling with:

  • Dental stains or discoloration
  • Chips or cracks in your teeth
  • Broken teeth
  • Irregularly shaped teeth
  • Disproportionately large or small teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Gaps in your smile

As Dr. Ray is invested in improving and maintaining your longterm oral health, he can first resolve any pre-existing conditions, such as gum disease or a root canal infection, before proceeding with treatment. He may also recommend a different treatment if you have significantly worn enamel or severe malocclusion or misalignment.

The Process

Before your procedure, Dr. Ray may request x-rays or advanced images of your smile, which can be used to create a wax mock-up of your custom porcelain veneer. We can make any adjustments to your mockup, tailoring the texture, color, and length to your bite and unique facial contours. If no modifications are needed, we can send your scans to our trusted dental laboratory, where your veneers will be expertly fabricated.

The Procedure

To ensure your comfort during the procedure, Dr. Ray can administer a local anesthetic. He can then carefully reshape the enamel and buff the front surface of your tooth in preparation for the adhesive agent. The amount of enamel removed will depend upon the type of veneer you are receiving. Before securing the veneer in place with dental cement, Dr. Ray can ensure it fits comfortably in your smile and blends seamlessly with adjacent teeth. After bonding is complete, you can enjoy your newly transformed appearance.

Maintaining Your Veneers

After placing your veneers, our team can provide you with detailed care instructions. To prolong the lifespan of your restorations, it is important to maintain proper oral hygiene, including daily brushing and flossing. In addition, we may recommend avoiding foods and beverages that can stain your teeth, such as red wine, tea, berries, and coffee.

Transform Your Appearance

As we believe that all patients, regardless of income, should have access to excellent dental care, we accept a variety of insurance policies and can assist with out-of-network claims. We also accept CareCredit® for qualifying patients. To learn more about porcelain veneers or to schedule an appointment at our practice, contact us online or call us at (501) 312-1127.
